1. How We Review & Test Gadgets
When you read a hardware review or software recommendation in our Home Automation or Smart Digital Playbook labs, you are reading the result of independent analysis. Our testing protocol includes:
- No Payola: We never accept payment from brands in exchange for a positive review. If a product has flaws, we will clearly outline them.
- Real-World Usage: We do not just copy and paste spec sheets. Gadgets and software are evaluated based on their real-world utility, user experience, and long-term value.
- Review Units: Occasionally, a manufacturer may provide a temporary review unit. This does not guarantee a positive review, and the unit is returned or disclosed clearly in the article.
2. Affiliate Independence
The Simply Smart Home is a free publication. To keep the lights on, we use affiliate links (as outlined in our Disclaimer). However, our affiliate team is strictly separated from our editorial process.
An affiliate commission rate never dictates whether a product receives a high score. We recommend products because we believe they are the best options for our readers, not because they pay the highest bounty.
3. Stance on AI & Automated Content
The internet is increasingly filled with spam and AI-generated content. We believe in human-first journalism. While we may use software tools for grammar checking or data formatting, every article, review, and news update on this site is conceptualized, researched, and written by a real human being. We do not publish automated, scraped, or purely AI-generated articles.
4. Corrections & Updates
The technology landscape moves fast. If we publish a news story or security alert (via our Everyday Cyber Shield lab) and the facts subsequently change, we are committed to updating the piece rapidly. If a factual error is made on our part, we will issue a transparent correction at the top or bottom of the article.
